    I totally agree, misused threads in direct messages becomes nightmare when you need to revisit history

    This could help to avoid threads in private messages, because now users have no easy option to reply on message when threads are enabled and start new thread. Reading threads in private messages is a nightmare when you need to revisit history of conversation.
