Enable a setting to allow sound alerts on a channel basis
I love that I can get notified when there is a post with a sound. But we have a community channel that a huge number of people belong to where things are discussed that I'm not interested in. I was added to the channel by my boss, and think it would be rude to disconnect. But if I could just turn off the notifications for that channel then I wouldn't be so distracted looking at many many notifications that have nothing to do with me and my work. Thanks for letting us make suggestions to make Matermost even better! Our team loves it!! Barb

The question was about sound. It seems like that is not possible.
I would like that feature because I don't want to mute because I want to see the notifications but for some channels not the sounds. Particularly for channels not directly needed for my work. So don't want to hear sound for such channels, but want to see notifications when I look at the channel-name.
That way I have maximum focus for my work. -
Some per-channel notification settings can be found in Channel settings > Notification Preferences.

FYI, You can "mute" a channel... this stops notifications from channels that are busy.
In a channel, click on the Channel name in the top left corner of the Channel header. Then select "Mute Channel".
