Switch to the positive attitude of Slack
If you type : thumbs ... : slack suggests :thumbsup: where as mattermost suggests :thumbsdown:

This seems to be already implemented, at least for the thumbs-up :) Tested on the webclient MM5.26.0 and the Android app 1.37.0
