should implement an admin interface to the System Console to make the server auto update to the latest MM release
It would be great to make admins life easier to develop an auto admin function to Mattermost that on click downloads, installs and updates the given installation, so the admin doesn't need terminal or root access anymore. Especially renewing the config (put the existing entries in the new/extended config) would be helpful.

commentednononononono. no. no! NO! I have postponed the updating for reasons in the past.
If this is implemented it is mandatory for it to be fully optional!

commentedI guess that feature is being completely ignored by the creators. Too bad :(. Does anybody know a proper alternative? Is Riot better?

commentedOur faculty is thinking about using this software soon as an alternative to Slack. But it seems to be to complicated for our small university, if there is a need to install the updates manually. So our politics faculty would be very glab if you would implement an automated way to update MM. Cause at this point this is only suitable for experiences user who know what to do. I personally cannot do that.

commentedDefinitely. I do not know why they do not offer that already. It's so easy to do update ownCloud or Nextcloud for example.

commentedIt would also be nice if the new release could be uploaded as a zip file via the web UI. This is useful for instances of Mattermost without Internet access.
