Loop GIFs on mouseover
The GIF preview feature is great, but a channel full of looping gifs is visually distracting.
Discord's implementation of this functionality plays the GIF once, then repeats it on mouseover. This works really well and would be a nice polish to the current implementation.

I would suggest looping the Gif 2-3 times and than pausing it. After that the mouseover method seems very fine to me.

Actually, you can currently toggle the display of an animated gif once you are finished watching it. Press the down triangle (▼) next to the gif name until it becomes a right triangle (▶).

Some option for not continuously looping GIFs would be greatly appreciated. WhatsApp plays the animation twice and then pauses it and gives the option to play again, but the Discord option sounds perfect as well. These animated GIFs are tremendously popular at my organization and it does really make the chat history nauseating.
