resize image upload
Fist important use of mattermost is sharing picture.
We need to upload a smarphone picture with a good resize for not explode server hard drive. (picture management is not easy with history)
For example when we upload a picture, a menu ask:
Choose size upload:
- original size (~4mB)
- full hd (800 kB)
- 1024px (200 kB)
(we can use mozjpeg lib)
Resize coulb be on the sever or on the app, but it's necessary.
This feature is not on slack and i don't understand WHY.

yep +3,
We've used MM on mobile for years but we start thinking about something else now, it's a must have.
i've posted a proposal that looks similar.

Android Image Uploading is annoying.
My Users are complaining that it takes ages to upload a image.
the image should be resized on the smartphone BEFORE uploading automatically (eg. like whatsapp) -

+3, but I'm not sure about the idea of a menu for uploading in different sizes.
AFAIK the reason it's "instant" on Whatsapp (and Slack possibly?) is that the client (i.e. the mobile or desktop app) resizes images behind the scenes before uploading them. This sounds like a reasonable thing to do, as my assumption is that most shared images don't need to be full size 5mb files.
There should still be an option to send full size images, though - I've seen this done through "share file" features, where images will be sent without compression.
So IMO, images should be compressed by default and before upload to a reasonable size (around 150kb is what I usually aim for for the web, quality will still be high enough for most cases), and sharing full size images should happen when attaching a file.

my users are sending a lot of pictures with whatsapp and to with mattermost it takes very long to upload the pictures (IOS / ANDROID)
It would be great if the picture would be resized BEFORE upload.

I have upvoted this issue too. One of the strongest complaints I get from users is that "<insert any other messaging app> uploads photos that I take on my phone basically instantly, but this app takes ages".
I should note that the general consensus from my users is that they love the mobile apps and the whole Mattermost experience - but the image uploading speed is such a bad UX for them that it warps their perception enough that they don't want to use the product.

Users are complaining that Image Upload takes much longer than in Whatsapp. This feature ist sorely needed.
