Here is a request to define colour formatting for markdown in common mark (5 years old, waiting for attribute syntax changes that probably never happen):

I know that's an old proposal, but I'd rather not open a duplicate.
Although color formatting is not within the markdown standard, that's an easy feature that will be a huge advantage for my use case and I'm willing to implement it.
