    I want to say that this is pretty useful for my instance. I'm maintaining an instance for Wikipedia editors (so they stop using IRC) which you can find in https://chat.wmcloud.org and mediawiki supports OAuth2 for login: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/OAuth/For_Developers#OAuth_2
    The current situation with Gitlab is so customizable that I sorta made it with work with Wikipedia accounts but some modifications are needed.
