  1. Alt text for user-posted images

    Users should be able to add alt text to their images. This is actually necessary to comply with accessibility legislation in Canada.

  2. Collapsed Reply Threads : enable/disable by channel

    Hi,

    CRTs are great for organizing conversations and reducing noise on some conversations. But there are some use cases where the old way is better for readability and understanding (e.g. direct messages or channels with a few people).

    A good feature would be to enable or disable CRT by channels or direct message. Configuring per user and/or per channel may be relevant.

  4. Support Calling From Mobile Browsers

    When using mobile browser (Android/Firefox) to visit a self hosted Mattermost site, it does not show the option to call. If "request desktop site" option is used on mobile browsers, the calling function is shown and works as expected. Request to add this Call option to mobile browser versions also.

  5. Allow Self Signed Certificates From User Store

    Mattermost does not trust self signed certificates imported manually by the user. When mattermost is deployed locally/LAN/VPN without access to the internet, the Android app does not work.

    I suspect that it does not trust self signed certificates from the user store on Android/iOS and refuses the connection. Adding this simple feature would make the app invaluable.

    Chrome on Android already trusts self signed certificates imported manually into the user store. When visiting Mattermost via IP address on the Chrome browser, it does not display any errors/warnings about the self signed certificate.

  7. Provide a "Mark read" choice in mobile push notifications

    A "Mark read" choice in push notifications about new messages, as seen in many IM apps, would be handy in Mattermost Mobile too. Currently the message can only be marked read by tapping the message to open the app (which is slow).

  8. Allow screen-sharing without starting a call

    Enable a user to begin sharing their screen without needing to create a call. Useful in environments where calls must be disabled but screen-sharing is critical.

    I would like to have an opportunity to migrate users from email to GitLab authentication provider - mmctl user migrate-auth email gitlab users.json
    Currently, it is possible to migrate only to ldap or saml.

  10. Add Preview Functionality to Boards

    If you open a document in a channel, you are able to preview it. It would be great to add that functionality to documents posted in Boards!

  11. Please, add custom notification sounds.

    Now we have 6 built-in notification sounds, I and my team like none of them.

    One has to disable notifications sounds instantly, because of the annoying bing and there is no option to change it to something more unobtrusive.

  12. Boards on mobile

    It would be great to have access to MM boards on the mobile app, integrated with my existing boards on the desktop and web app. This would allow users to view and update their board tasks from their Boeing Phone, when not logged into our laptop.

    Allow users to setup "on duty" time frames so they aren't constantly buzzed by the app when they are off duty. Unless a user is specifically cited.

  15. Icons for channels

    It would be nice to be able to assign an icon (or emoji) to a channel so that it replaces the existing public/private icons in the sidebar. Having a small image that describes the channel allows for people to more easily find a channel that they are looking for in a large list of channels (just like it does for DMs and teams). The space taken up by the existing public/private icons would be better served by a custom image/emoji. If desired, the public/private icons could be retained by making them small overlay icons in the corner much like user…

  16. Allow to disable thread autofollow when whole channel was mentioned.

    Add parameter that allows Mattermost admin, to disable thread autofollow while having collapsed reply thread turned on while mass mentions are used (@channel, @all, @here).
    I want my users to get notification, but not to follow this thread automatically, afaik, this is not possible at this moment, because thread autofollow must be set to true in config.json, for collapsed reply thread to work.

    Allow search in message attachments. Currently, searching for text inside a message attachment doesn't produce any results. I suspect that this is similar to https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/19061098-allow-message-attachments-to-generate-mentions

  19. Support @silent to not notify the recipient of the message

    Often times I want to message someone after hours so as to not forget the next day, but avoid doing so because it is rude. An "@silent" message will allow me to send that message without alerting the recipient.

  20. Copy / Zoom on image in preview (same as Slack / Skype)

    Integrate similar image previews as in Skype / Slack, rather than just "Download":
    - Enable copy pasting of an image from preview
    - Enable zoom on image when passing mouse over it
    - Open preview in a sub-window for better viewing
