Add notification timeout option
I've seen other thing saying there is a timeout option for notifications but I'm not seeing one in the Linux desktop app. Should it be there? If not, I'd really like a way to make the notifications to be persistent until I interact with them or Mattermost.

Open attached image in browser
When trying to view attached images at their full resolution, having to save the image, find where you saved it, and then open it there is quite clunky.
It would be better to open the attached image in a browser, users can right click save it from there, and it can easily be maximized there

Desktop app: Offline mode to access channel content to truly replace email
I have many scenarios where I cannot connect to the mattermost server, e.g. on flights, on the train. In these cases I still want to be able to fire up mattermost and access the channel content, e.g. look up important discussions, attachments, images.
Mattermost is great to seamlessly structure discussions and work results, but to truly replace email, that content must be available offline.

Too many times opening proxy auth dialog
In company proxy environment, authentication dialog for proxy open as many as Mattermost server registered in App each time I open Mattermost App.
We want to reduce the number of times to open the dialog. (e.g. by setting auth for proxy from environement variables, or by saving auth info to config.json)15 votes -
Snooze channel for 1h, 8hrs or 24hhrs
It would be nice to be able to mute a channel for a set period of time then it automatically unmute itself. Facebook Messenger has a similar feature called Snooze.

There should a 'Buzz' for alert
There should be a 'Buzz' to alert the other user. Like, Spark, Yahoo.
Sometimes we have messaged to another user. But user is busy on another task. He/She missed the messages which is very important.
In this case, the user should have a 'Buzz' button or shortcut for alert to someone. I hope everyone knows about the importance of 'Buzz'. :)

CMD/CTRL+K should allow to switch to conversation from other team
When you are part of two or more team and you have unread channel in another team you've currently selected, you can not switch to it with CMD/CTRL+K. Since there is no keyboard shortcut to switch team (already discussed in various place), this would be nice to display the conversation from the other team in the conversation selection popup!

Try to use less CPU / energy in native Mac App
Right now the Mattermost native Mac app is using a lot of CPU, pretty consistently over 10%, which seems really high for an app of this type. What could it possibly be doing to use that much CPU? The energy impact is almost up there with known battery drainers like Chrome and Firefox. I know it's a beta, so please consider this some beta-user feedback. Thanks!

Linux desktop app: start hidden in tray without creating window itself
Instead of creating the application and minimizing it application start must be done without creating window itself.
Lack of this option I have discussed here https://forum.mattermost.org/t/solved-linux-mattermost-desktop-start-minimized-from-command-line/6321/18

Mattermost in the Microsoft Store
I would wish that you can install Mattermost as a client directly from the Microsoft Store in Windows 10. This would be an advantage, especi

React to reactions
Reaction emojis are great for quickly expressing a sentiment in response to a message. It would be beneficial to have the ability to add a reaction emoji to those reactions.
For example, when someone reacts with “Thank you” I need to then type a new message to say “You’re welcome”, and if someone overlooks the small “thank you” emoji then my message can be easily misinterpreted as sarcastically implying the person wasn’t grateful!
Instead, it would be much better if I could add a “You’re welcome!” reaction to their “Thank you!” reaction.

Get alerted when the status of another user changes
I would like to get alerted when another user comes online.
In the proprietary messaging application that is also used in our organization, this feature is available as a right-click menu item labeled "Tag for Status Change Alerts", i.e. you can switch on/off alerts per user. I have always found it very useful so it would be a nice addition to Mattermost.

Option to allow hiding the server tabs bar
I would love to be able to hide the top server tabs bar on my single-server setup. Lots of wasted space when I don't have any other servers. I like to have the window fairly small, sort of old-school instant-messaging style, and when I do, 5% of the height of the window is taken up by the tabs bar (yes, I'm that kind of person where I measured the height of my window in pixels and the height of the tabs bar using GIMP).
Even if I were connected to other servers, I could switch servers using a keyboard shortcut…

Too many "image.png" files. Please make them identifiable.
Mattermost automatically stores all captured images as "image.png."
So, there are too many "image.png" files on all channels. If filename contains its datetime and the publisher's shortened ID like [Pete_230814-0848.png],
the user will be able to search the image file more easily. To be specific, it's a bit cumbersome to find a specific image file now.
Most people are seeking an image file directly from the recent file list through the view info icon(ⓘ) and voila, there're dozens of image.png files.
Although I've learned using following command works for that,
[:from:Somebody in:Somewhere image.png]
there's no guarantee of knowing the uploader's…9 votes -
Open channels and direct messages in different windows (Desktop apps)
Right now we use Mattemost for communication about projects and Spark/Jabber/XMPP for direct messages. The reason we prefer Spark over Mattermost is that we can have each communication in a different app window and that makes it easier if you communicate with more people at once. Typical use case is that you send a question to your colleague and keep the window open until you get the answer.

Please, add custom notification sounds.
Now we have 6 built-in notification sounds, I and my team like none of them.
One has to disable notifications sounds instantly, because of the annoying bing and there is no option to change it to something more unobtrusive.

Host a repository for the mattermost-desktop Debian package
It is nice to have a .deb package for mattermost-desktop, but it would be even easier to have a repository we can add to sources.list so the app can be easily updated.
